Vivienne Westwood Designs $1400 Tablecloths
Usually when you refer to something as a “tablecloth,” it’s as an insult — as in: a drab heirloom number that would look better as a backdrop for your grandmother’s Wedgwood than as a piece of clothing. (See also: the frock Kirsten Dunst wore to the Costume Institute Gala.)
But when we tell you designer Vivienne Westwood has created a bunch of tablecloths, we literally mean cloths for your table. Apparently not content to dress us two-legged folks, the designer turned her attention to that with four, creating a batch of 20 designs to be sold in support of eco-charity Cool Earth.
Covered with Westwood’s signature bold prints and political polemics, each of the dame’s custom done cloths will set you back a cool £1,000 — pocket change, right? After all, would you dress your table in anything less than the best? Well, even if this seems an insane amount to spend on something that will inevitably get spilled on, at least it’s for a good cause. Maybe just hold off on the red wine.
