SHOCKER: Whitney Port Doesn’t Design Her Own Clothes
Despite evidence from The City that shows Whitney Port asking People’s Revolution’s Kelly Cutrone for design advice or, awkward scenes in which she tries to sell pieces from her line Whitney Eve to stores as high-end as Bergdorf Goodman, it seems as though Ms. Port may have been playing a little trick on us.
According to People magazine, Whitney Port is being sued by Adrienne Baravetto, who claims that in 2007 she helped Whitney design the line — which was then called Eve & A — and has not been paid accordingly.
Apparently the two ladies had a verbal agreement with Whitney and her father which included an $80,000 annual salary and 25% stake in the brand. Baravetto is also claiming that most of the intellectual property — the designs — are her own, not the reality TV star’s.
In response to the lawsuit, Whitney’s lawyer, Michael Taitelman told People:
“The lawsuit that Adrienne Baravetto filed on March 19, 2010 against Whitney Eve, Inc., Whitney Port and others regarding the Whitney Eve clothing line is baseless and without merit. Whitney Port is, and always has been, the designer of Whitney Eve. Baravetto worked for Whitney Eve for a short period of time ending in early 2008. For more than two years, she has been silent. For reasons that we will uncover, she has decided to make these unsubstantiated allegations at this time. The defendants will vigorously defend themselves, and upon the successful conclusion of this lawsuit in their favor, they intend to hold Baravetto and her counsel accountable for their reckless conduct.”
