Don't Worry Girls, Karl Lagerfeld doesn't pack light either

Come hell, or high baggage fee, women will forever find a way to pack more than they need — lest they leave their favorite pair of shoes home alone and have a McCaulay Culkin moment in the mirror.

Well, in good news for all those designers right now shilling retail-friendly resort wares, a new poll finds that not only do we tend to overpack for a trip, but we also overspend. Big time. In fact, according to the survey by Clothes Show London, the average woman drops nearly $200 more on a new wardrobe for her trip than she does on the trip itself.

On what? Well, there’s $430 for new dresses,  $180 on sandals and slightly less on bikinis and other important accessories like designer sunglasses. (Hello, we must protect ourselves). Oh wait, there’s also another $200 for all the adorable travel sized beauty products we have to have. But why stop there? In preparation for takeoff, we also admit to spending 15 hours giving ourselves a pre-flight makeover which apparently includes applying a fake tan, leg waxing, and polishing of the toenails. All of which begs the question: where are we headed? Abu Dhabi?

Alas, with all the covetable cruise collections inducing dreams of far flung locales and hot cabana boys, we can almost understand the urge to splurge. Especially if it warrants the purchase of this entire outfit. We would leave you with tips on packing light, but… what’s the point?
