You Too Can Dress As Badly As Japan’s Prime Minister

Japan’s Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama stepped out for a lovely jaunt earlier last month donning a multicolored checkered shirt. Big mistake. Soon after, CNN reported his approval rating was down 9% from the previous month — a ghastly 24%. That is what we call a crime against fashion!
Crime: Wearing that truly horrendous shirt.
Punishment: Your entire country loses faith in you.
Ouch.
But we’re here to tell Hatoyama to turn that frown upside down, because apparently someone is digging his style. A Shanghai clothing company, ShirtsMyWay.com, will be releasing 50 limited edition copies of Hatoyama’s infamous checkered shirt.
“We’re making it as a show of support for Hatoyama,” Peter Crawfurd, co-founder of the company told the Guardian. “He’s got an individual style, and that’s what we’re about.”
So how much will it cost you to look like Japan’s sartorially challenged PM? The aptly named Hatoyama Shirt will run you a whopping $500. And if you’re considering putting down the cash, maybe you should take a deep breath and invest in a personal stylist instead.
