The 10 Best Things We Saw on Day 1 of NZFW

We’re currently on the other side of the world for New Zealand Fashion Week! Here are the best things we saw on day one:

1. The view
Your move, Lincoln Center.

2. The masked drummers at Nom*D
It’s always a good sign when the door person hands you earplugs.

3. The hats at Nom*D
Your American Apparel Floppy Hat is in urgent need of a trim.

4. The hair at Nom*D
The only way we’re ever okay with chopsticks being even remotely a thing again.

5. Lela Jacobs’ post-dystopian fairytale
A creepy soundtrack, dirty faces, and the day’s most brilliant styling.

6. A necklace that doubled as a water feature
Impracticality is one of our favorite trends.

7. Everything else that happened inside the same off-site silo.
Including all of Meadowlark’s amazing brand of captivity chic jewellery.

8. The white linens that opened Salasai
Suck it, Labor Day.

9. Western Springs Stadium
Where Stolen Girlfriends Club chauffeured us off to for Cointreau martinis, boxy tartans, and an overall more polished incarnation of their signature weird girl grunge.

10. The White House
Where Stolen Girlfriends Club threw one of their consistently epically good after parties
And which also happens to be a brothel. Classic.
