Pretty Clothes, Empty Seats At Alexandre Herchcovitch

Here’s the thing about Fashion Week: there are so many shows. The amount of stuff going on all day every day is completely overwhelming, and in the end, someone gets screwed. Yesterday, Alexandre Herchcovitch was that person.

Herchcovitch showed his fall 2011 collection yesterday — at the very same time that both Oscar de la Renta and Jeremy Scott did. Editors, fashionistas, celebs and scenesters flocked to the old school glamourfest that was ODLR and the hipster’s paradise that was Scott, leaving the Herchcovitch show lacking in spectators. In fact, the show was so empty that Fashion Week staffers were asked to be seat fillers and a girl in the second row implored her friends to move to the front so Herchcovitch didn’t “look bad.”

And it’s all really a shame, because his show was quite lovely. Of course, we had seen the looks before, when we posted pictures of Lea T walking in his Sao Paulo show last month. Regardless, we loved seeing the collection on the runway. Everything was black and gray, with hints of of shocking neon yellow. There was lace, and one of the best coats we’ve seen yet — a chunky shawl-collar number covered in pearl beading. The models also happened to be wearing some seriously awesome jewelry.

We picked out some of our favorite looks below. What do you think of the collection?
