It’s Day 6 of Fashion Week and while we kind of feel like jerks complaining (Wah! Fashion is so hard!), we have to be honest: our brains feel like Blake Lively’s mouth. (Full of cotton and marbles. Zing! Aaaannyway.) All of which is to say: Alice + Olivia’s cupcake, booze, and sequin-filled presentation at The Plaza Monday night is exactly what we needed.
We arrived at the elevator bank (the same one, presumably, commandeered by Anna Wintour the other day) to see Real Housewife of New York Kelly Bensimon having an across-the-room conversation about her fur vest with an admiring male. Legs for days, that one. Our elevator opened into a four-room set up — two for the models, one for the red carpet, and one for all the booze, cookies, and uniformed waiters a blogger can handle — filled with models outfitted in designer Stacey Bendet‘s signature sequined, party girl styles. In one corner, downtown DJ du jour Mia Moretti held musical court with electric violinist Caitlin Moe while the likes of Cory Kennedy and Vanessa Hudgens looked on. We’d apparently just missed a performance by a burlesque dancer named Hazel Honeysuckle.
While waiting to snap a photo of Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford and her oversized nerd specs, we chatted with SNLers Abby Elliott and Nasim Pedrad, who played diplomatically coy when we asked them who their most fashionable castmember was. “All the girls are really into fashion,” offered Abby. “We’re all pretty aware of the fact that we’re on TV,” added Nasim. But when it came to least fashionable, there wasn’t much hesitation. “Andy,” they both agreed. We smell a makeover, Samberg. When we pointed out that Seth Myers is a somewhat popular man about fashion parties, Elliot laughed. “He is always stepping out in miniskirts.”
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
