Anna Sui‘s runway is one that we look forward to each season because it’s genuinely a lot of fun. Happy models, pretty clothes, a chill atmosphere, and BS-free front row — now that’s our kind of show. Last night, Sui did what she does best with a great collection of clothes inspired by the ’60s in France, and a big group of top models.
We spotted Sofia Coppola being mobbed by reporters and photographers alike. Publicists pushed us away before we could get an interview or a good (well, amateur) pic of the filmmaker, so we just moseyed on back to our seats to enjoy the show.
Sui opened with a choreographed dance routine at the front of the runway by Karlie Kloss, Hilary Rhoda, Jamie Bochert, Liu Wen, and Daria Strokous. Then they did their thing on the runway alongside other big models like Cara Delevingne, Lindsey Wixson, Fei Fei Sun, and Jessica Stam.
Sui showed a 48-look collection of quirky ensembles and fun accessories that weren’t unlike what we’ve seen before, though that’s not to say that we’ll ever get sick of it. The French influences were evident from the choice of music to the clothes themselves. Mod and bohemian ensembles were given a crash course in colorblocking, prints, patterns, and whimsy. Each girl’s hair was worked into a voluminous pony with the tail tucked in to create what we’re calling a pony-bob, and the quintessential ’60s cat eye was exaggerated with a longer tail and dotted liner on the bottom lash line.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
