The Anna Sui show is always one of Fashion Week‘s most fun. It’s the show where you can bank on the the industry’s top models — Karlie, Arizona, Lindsey, Daphne, Jess — walking in flashy, colorful creations to high-octane music. It’s a show that reminds you that fashion can (and should) be fun.
While we were waiting for the show to start, we did our usual mulling-about-hoping-to-find-someone-to-interview thing. And just when we were about to give up, we spotted Patricia Field. We made our way over to the red-headed stylist, and chatted about the highlight of her week (“Jeremy Scott. He’s amusing as always. Jeremy Scott is the comedian of fashion, and you can always go there to get a good laugh. Smart, funny. I love the comedy.”) and what brought her to Sui (“We’re old friends!”). Then we just had to ask her about the Sex and the City prequel.
What are your thoughts on the SATC prequel?
I don’t know about that. Is there one?
There is! If they asked you to style it, would you do it?
I don’t know. That’s a very leading question. So, there’s a prequel?
Yeah, it’s going to be on the CW. The Gossip Girl guy is the one doing it.
Oh, Eric’s doing it? He was my assistant on Sex and the City!
We were confused, but not until we took our seats (which someone tried to steal, along with our gift bag) did we realize she thought we were talking about Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman. (By Gossip Girl guy, we meant Josh Schwartz.) Also, yes, our question may have been leading, but we wanted to know!
Anyway, the show was opened by Karen Elson, and filled with lively prints, a bit of sparkle, and lots and lots of turbans. We thought we were totally over turbans, but this ’20s twist (and those bouncy curls!) were too cool to ignore. Yes, fashion is fun.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
