14-Year-Old Kylie Jenner Is Modeling Illegally For Avril Lavigne

Today it was reported that 14-year-old Kylie Jenner will walk in Avril Lavigne‘s Abbey Dawn show during Fashion Week. Isn’t that, you know, illegal?

The CFDA has a recommended age limit of 16 for models walking in shows. This is a recommendation, not a hard and fast rule, but the CFDA takes it very seriously. This year they’ve even advised designers to card models to make sure they comply.

Kylie is not at all 16. That said, Avril is not a CFDA member, nor is she showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Rather, she is showing as part of Style360 at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Still, this seems to be a slap in the face to the fashion community’s regulations.

Of course, Kylie’s participation in the show shouldn’t come as much of a surprise — Avril’s boyfriend is Kylie’s half-brother Brody Jenner. And since the Kardashian krew rolls deep, Kim and Kourtney are both expected to sit front row at the show.

Don’t, you Julia Rubin, you know, have more interesting things to write about? Do some research before you post an article that will undoubtedly stir up the “oh my god, how could they” people. A minor of 14 yrs is permitted to work in the US albeit, with restrictions to amount of hours worked. A quick read of the FLSA would enlighten your mind on that.
