Azealia Banks Is Boycotting ‘Racist’ Dolce & Gabbana Collection

Azealia Banks is no stranger to controversy. Her Dazed & Confused cover was banned in seven countries for featuring a blown-up condom and no small amount of innuendo, her lyrics are pretty much the opposite of G-rated, and she’s earned herself her fair share of haters in the rap game.

But while provocation may be a-ok in the book of Banks, racism is another issue entirely. The Harlem rapper tweeted on Friday that she is “definitely boycotting” Dolce & Gabbana for the “corny, racist” imagery in their spring collection — namely, we assume, those controversial earrings featuring dark-skinned, plastic heads that raised so much ire last month when they were sent down the runway dangling from the ears of an all-white cast.

There’s no doubt that the accessories were seriously ill-advised, though we’re not sure we’re on board with her less-than-delicate suggestion for what the designers of such an offensive item might require:

  • Dario

Is that even a news? It looks like she tweeted to herself and got no replies or follow up…Those items can be read as offensive but also quite the contrary if you know the story behind them and probably they are just meant for the show :-(
