One sure-fire way to get a standing ovation at a runway show? Make sure your guests can’t sit down.
Styleite has endured its fair share of standing “seats” at shows, and we get a bit of satisfaction knowing that Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Mario Testino, and many more can now sympathize with our plight. Right before today’s Balenciaga show in Paris, benches collapsed beneath the well-healed crowd, which also included Grace Coddington, Hamish Bowles, Catherine Deneuve, François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek. Yikes. Guests were asked to stand up for the remainder of the waiting time and to take in the show on foot.
Don’t worry about the fashion folks though. According to WWD: “Apparently, there were no serious injuries, while some wispy fashion types wondered aloud whether it might be time for a collective industry diet.” Or, you know, it might be time to not skimp on seating apparatuses. Anyway, these pics courtesy of the Harper’s Bazaar UK Twitter account are priceless:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
