Despite a rough year that saw her company go bankrupt, her 63 stores shutter, and her 350 employees fired, Betsey Johnson is nothing if not tireless, and has just announced that she will be staging a runway show during February’s New York Fashion Week.
Two weeks ago, while being interviewed by Fern Mallis in front of an audience at the 92Y, the designer explained that she would not be showing the fall 2013 collection for her revamped, lower-priced line on a catwalk, but today she tells WWD that a quiet season just wasn’t in the cards:
I just could not stay away from fashion week. I wanted to do this for myself and for all of my fans to show that I’ve still got it and I am not going anywhere.
Johnson will show February 11 at 5PM at Lincoln Center, and we don’t know about you, but we’re looking forward to seeing her cartwheel down the catwalk once again.
