The powers that be at Calvin Klein were good to us today, because not only were we sat directly behind Anna Dello Russo, we were nothing but an arm’s length aisle space away from Emma Stone and Rooney Mara, whose appearance at the fall show this afternoon caused a veritable photographer frenzy. Even Dello Russo stood up to get a better look! And later, we totally busted the New York Times‘ Cathy Horyn taking her eyes off the runway to surreptitiously (or not so much) take a photo of the pair.
Notably, Stone was there with her stylist, Ashley Avignone (who you may remember from her short-lived appearance on The Rachel Zoe Project.) Do we smell an Oscar dress?
As for the clothing, it was, as it always is, quintessentially Calvin. (Though perhaps it would be more accurate to call it quintessentially Francisco Costa, depending on how you look at it.) Costa stuck to a minimalist palette of black, cream, and poppy red. And while the shapes were somewhat simple, the textures were anything but. One dress featured black chain mail overlay while another mixed leather with closely shorn fur (faux or otherwise.) The shoes and boots, however, stole the show. And it was refreshing to see a nice solid heel on the runway. Enough with the ankle strapped stilettos.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
