Yet Another Designer Cancels Their Fall Fashion Show

Though we’re not one to mourn the loss of anything off the exceptionally crowded fashion week calendar, a cancelled show is never a good thing.

Designer Ralph Rucci has canceled his February 12 runway show in favor of private showroom appointments for his Chado Ralph Rucci line. And while the natural assumption is money, some insiders say Rucci wasn’t happy that his showtime coincided with Tommy Hilfiger’s famously busy production. But Rosina Rucci, his sister and communications director, says it’s neither.

“Tommy’s audience is decidedly not ours,” she wrote in an e-mail to Women’s Wear Daily on Wednesday. “And cost is always a factor but [that] was not the driving force behind this decision.”

Last month, notoriously troubled fashion house Emanuel Ungaro canceled both their fall and pre-fall presentations, while Celine announced plans to show their fall collection in presentation format to accomodate designer Phoebe Philo’s pregnancy.

PR powerhouse KCD’s online-only fashion shows couldn’t be coming at a better time.

Isn’t this the same guy who stiffed Kelly Cutrone out of her fee because he didn’t like the press coverage he got?
