Karl Lagerfeld showed his fall Chanel couture collection at the Grand Palais this morning. The show was a brilliant mash-up of classic and modern, and we’ve got all the details.
The entrance of the stunning venue was lined with potted camellias, the house’s signature flower. Famous faces like Diane Kruger,
Pacey Joshua Jackson, Sofia Coppola, and Clemence Poesy sat in the front row as Karl presented his 65-piece “New Vintage” collection. And what a collection it was!
There were the usual tweed suits, but Lagerfeld updated the house’s boxy tops into mid-length jackets and floor-length vests. Some of the pieces even featured tweed that was made to look like patchwork. There were also lust-worthy dresses with feathered sleeves, embellished with camellias and pom poms. Lagerfeld finished the looks with fancy headbands, fingerless gloves, cap-toe shoes, and shiny Lurex tights. In standard couture show fashion, the last look was a bridal one, this time modeled by Lindsey Wixson. Her voluminous wedding gown (which took up the width of the runway) featured elbow-length sleeves and a high collar, and was covered in white feathers.
This is what dreams are made of, you guys:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
