Paris Fashion Week kicks off today and in honor of the fact that we’re currently at our desks and not getting ready for Carine Roitfeld’s masquerade ball, we thought we’d take a look back at what fashion week looked like in 1993. Behold: Karl Lagerfeld‘s Fall / Winter collection for Chanel, featuring Claudia Schiffer, Karen Mulder, Shalom Harlow, and what we’re pretty sure is Kate Moss‘ runway debut. She looks so adorably serious!
While we love a good vintage video — and all the ’90s supers — we can’t get over how different this show is from what a fashion show looks like today. First of all, the models look like they’re having a blast. Second of all, they look healthy, happy, and surprisingly diverse. And third of all, it’s so long.
Moss’ makes her first appearance — looking a little shy — around 4:40 and someone we think might be Amber Valetta struts her stuff at 9:15.
And in case you have a whole twenty minutes to kill, there are actually two parts, both of which we’ve included below. You’ll also find Max Azria for Herve Leger’s Spring 2011 show below that, just for contrast. Talk about a snoozefest.
