PHOTOS: Karl’s Spring Chanel Show Was Mindblowing
Karl Lagerfeld showed his Spring 2011 collection for Chanel on Tuesday afternoon and for the first time in a very long time, we’re at a loss for words. So much happened. Ines de la Fressange made her triumphant return to the storied house, a bevy of starlets and fashion icons sat front row, super male model Brad Koenig‘s two-year-old son walked the five-minute long runway, and all this was set to the tune of an 80-piece orchestra.
As you can imagine, the tweets were exuberant, the reviews (so far, at least) fawning, and even the models could barely contain themselves. A sampling:
Coco Rocha: FACTS: Ines de la Fressange, Karls 1980′s muse returns to Chanel today – An 80 piece orchestra plays – Each models walk will take 5 mins!!
Vogue London: Don’t really want to see another show after Chanel, it was so amazing, anything else might feel flat #PFW
Cathy Horyn: Fabulous show!
Fashionista: Why Chanel does not show in the last slot of Paris Fashion Week mystifies me. If there was ever a grand finale, this morning’s performance at the Grand Palais was it.
Hilary Alexander: Feathers galore, teeny-tiny hotpants, pastel tweeds, metallics, woven leather razor-slashed silk faille at Master Karl’s stupendous Chanel#PFW
And there you have it. Over 80 models, 85 looks, Paris’ Grand Palais reimagined as the gardens at Versailles, and a toddler wearing Chanel. However will Karl top this?
