It’s hard to say whether the pieces on the models or the hair on Chris Benz and his friends were more colorful at the designer’s Spring presentation yesterday. Benz, along with his shocking pink ‘do, was joined by a purple-tressed Kelly Osbourne, as well as guests Susan Sarandon, and Hailee Steinfeld.
We checked out the collection with Steinfeld, who was on her last day of a whirlwind week in New York, and inquired as to whether she would consider dying her brunette locks a more daring shade: “As much as I want to, I don’t know that I could pull that off,” the fifteen-year-old laughed. “But if I could it would totally be that bubblegum pink.” Now that we would love to see! And it would totally go with the royal blue Benz dress she sported at the presentation.
As for whether anything stood out as a highlight after hitting the front row at Peter Som, Tommy Hilfiger, and more: “Oh man, I don’t know. I’ve been keeping pretty busy. I’m seeing the shows as a contributor to Teen Vogue.com. It’s been pretty crazy for me but I’m really enjoying it.”
Benz’s wares this season looked to be right up the Teen Vogue girl’s alley, especially now that the brand has been repositioned at a lower price point. The mismatched, layered looks gave off a Sixties parlor room vibe, particularly the three-piece mint ensemble and the graphic geometric prints. With pants worn under dresses and sweaters tied around waists, there also was plenty to take in with the collection, but even amidst all the maximalism, accessories collaborations with Cambridge Satchel Company and Alejandro Ingelmo and Benz’s new CB Denim offerings were definite crowd-pleasers.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
