Andrej P. Was The One Good Thing About Custo Barcelona

Custo Barcelona would have been the third show we were invited to but didn’t actually get to see this week, but we managed to make it inside the doors just before they closed. We don’t think we would have missed out on much if we had fallen victim (yet again) to the rampant overbooking afflicting PR companies this fashion week.

We knew to expect a collection filled with prints and offbeat color and texture combinations from Custo Dalmau, the line’s creative director, we just didn’t know so much of it would be downright unwearable. And while we get that most of these clothes will never see the light of production (we’re talking to you, crazy coat in slide 3), we were more perplexed than entertained. So much so that we almost didn’t recognize our beloved Andrej Pejic when he walked down the runway in men’s clothes.

See what we mean below.

Last night saw one of the best presentations to date in this season’s NY 2011 Fall collection with the visage of Custo Barcelona models thumping it down in intricate woven wool fabrics, with jagged woolen tassels, lapels, emerald, orange marmalade and boysenberry diamond shaped shafts cascading from tight fish scaled printed leggings to the velour of supple chiffon pleated fronts which reminded one of eerie floating muted landscapes.
