When we sat down and read the show notes for Dennis Basso‘s runway presentation on Tuesday, we were a little taken aback at the thought that someone managed to use six kinds of fur in one collection. But then we reminded ourselves that we were at Dennis Basso, and the idea that we were about to see sable, lynx, kidassia, broadtail, fox and chinchilla fur started to make more sense.
Basso’s spring show, if you remember, featured fur. Who wears fur in the spring? Apparently the woman Basso is designing for. We know it’s cold in New York at the moment, but we saw an inordinate amount of fur on the people in line for and sitting down at this show in particular.
While Basso’s show certainly wasn’t the first place we saw fur this week (there was fox at Luca Luca and shearling at Diesel Black Gold), it was certainly where we saw the most. By our count, every look except for one had fur in it. (To be fair, there was another knit dress that didn’t have any fur on it, but it was shown with a fur-covered purse.)
Take a look at the collection, below. A lot of the looks were just fur coats, though Basso showed some chunky knit sweaters and dresses that may well have stood out on their own. Click on through and riddle us this: How much fur is too much?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
