Erin Fetherston And Padma Lakshmi Reveal Their Shared Girl Crush

The Standard Hotel‘s High Line Room was transformed into Erin by Erin Fetherston‘s spring 2013 presentation venue yesterday evening. The terrace was dotted with statuesque models, while buyers, editors, and fashion folk gawked at Fetherston’s textured short suits, ruched maxi gowns, and cocktail-ready frocks. The room itself turned into a litte dance party with the help of up-and-coming singer (and one of Fetherston’s models) Alexandra McDermott. Once the evening was in full swing, we made our way through the crowd, and chatted with Fetherston about the collection.
“It feels crowded honestly, no, but it feels amazing. I’m so happy. Every time I work on a collection, it really comes to fruition at the unveiling. So it’s nice and happy to have all my friends around, the models look beautiful, the weather is good, and it’s a good time.”

And a good time it was. We watched models do silly poses at the behest of photographers, play a friendly game of ping pong, and even sip on some bubbly while in Fetherston’s wares. So who else would the designer want to wear her clothes? Michelle Obama, perhaps? ”I think it would be great. Yeah, sure! I think she’s awesome!”

Well, she’s not the only one with a crush on the First Lady. Model and host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi, dressed in a floral frock, told us that she was going home afterwards and catching Michelle’s speech from Tuesday night’s Democratic National Convention on YouTube. The two have never met, but Lakshmi is already figuring out what to say if the opportunity ever came:

“Hello? I mean, what do you say? I have so much to say to her, but I’d rather listen to her more.”

Agreed.
