Flash Fashion: Prada Goes Bananas For Stripes And Solids
With her Spring 2011 collection, Miuccia Prada may have redefined the idea of minimalism. Made entirely out of Japanese cottons and cut in simple, if boxy, shapes, Prada’s spring line featured no shortage of Breton-inspired stripes, bright solids, and, well, bananas.
I’m tired of minimalism,” Prada told WWD before her show. “I asked myself, ‘How can I do minimal Baroque?’”
Suzy Menkes called the show “exceptional”, Elle’s Joe Zee dubbed it “quite major”, and WWD decided it was a “perfect example…of why…Prada continues to captivate.”
In other (read: Brad Goreski’s) words: it was a mayjor fashion moment filled with lewks made to be werked.
