Givenchy Bows Out Of Paris Couture Again
We understand that Riccardo Tisci has had his hands full. While designing multiple Givenchy collections, he’s taken on stagewear for Beyoncé and Rihanna, ballet costumes for the Opéra Garnier, as well as co-chaired the Met Gala — for which he designed many red carpet looks, including one infamous floral dress for a very pregnant Kim Kardashian. Given all that, we can cut Tisci some slack with the news that Givenchy will not hold its couture presentation next month. The Parisian fashion house also bowed out of it’s Spring 2013 Couture presentation back in January, so maybe we shouldn’t have had our hopes up for fall.
But don’t fret, fashionphiles. There is a silver lining to cling to. For one, Tisci will continue to work on couture and expanding his atelier, which means more Givenchy moments for Hollywood (is it awards season, yet?). He has also announced a new series of unisex Givenchy watches, which will be the first set of tickers since the previous watch collection was discontinued in 2009. Although the timepieces are priced relatively low for the designer watch market ($770 and $890), if we were budgeting Tisci’s time, we would have definitely penciled in for a presentation. After all, experiencing the magic of his designs on Style.com is much easier on the wallet.
