Seems Heidi Slimane wants the best of both worlds. He privately showed his Resort 2014 collection earlier this month, à la Tom Ford, and now he’s internet-publishing it to the masses, à la Burberry.
Okay so images on a screen aren’t quite so impressive as a digital kissing booth, but Slimane’s getting pretty good at this internet thing considering he’s still pretty deep in the ‘90s as far as aesthetics go.
This time, the designer (who’s also playing photographer, à la Karl) has moved on from boho and grunge and into the era of heroin chic, replacing former campaign stars Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love for
a Russian Kate Moss Sasha Pivovarova. And from the cocoon of fringing and flannel emerges a sharp collection of chiffon blouses, cigarette pants and tailored jackets that later sprout sequins. Or BYO Le Smoking jacket.
We’re not too sure about the mullet hems or Forever 21 skirts belted as dresses – one trend that should definitely remain in the ’90s. But considering this is a resort collection, there are plenty of pieces with a much higher hope of fetching $68,000 than the dress Cara Delevingne wore wharf-jumping.
