Helmut Lang’s Fall Collection Was Inspired By HBO’s Game Of Thrones

We know fashion designers get their inspiration from some pretty far reaching places, but we’d be lying if we told you that a TV show based on a series medieval fantasy novels would provide the direction for a major fashion show. Nevertheless, the people at Helmut Lang say they were inspired by HBO’s hit program, Game of Thrones.

The show, which is based on the George R.R. Martin series A Game of Ice and Fire, has been off the air for about a year, but that didn’t stop it from being alive in the hearts and minds of Helmut Lang’s creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos. The two told The Los Angeles Times that their multi-layered collection draws on the shows leather-and-fur clad cast. The clothes look like they’re useful for protecting yourself from the scarring involved with fighting in a civil war — or for battling the realities of every day life. See what we mean below.
