FLASH FASHION: Hervé Leger Channels Marie Antoinette

Each season we look forward to seeing how Max Azria will update his now ubiquitous bandage dress for Hervé Leger. For spring/summer 2011, Azria drew inspiration from Versailles. Even though ribbons, ruffles and bustles adorned his pastel body-hugging creations, the dresses never veered too dangerously close to saccharine, due in large part to their tight fit.

The shoes (pointy pumps with ankle straps) were little safe for our taste, but touches like printed rubber (with a lace pattern!) kept things fresh and a metallic silver dress looked firmly rooted in the future. While the clothes were both sweet and sexy, we noticed Azria only included one non-white model in his show. Hmmm.
