Floral Frocks Reign Supreme at Houghton’s Spring Show
Breaking away from last season’s white-out, Houghton‘s latest collection by designer Katharine Polk was a girly-girl wonderland. Black and white lace, ethereal makeup, and floral prints were the name of the game at the Standard Hotel yesterday. As the angelic models stomped the glossy black runway, Becka Diamond manned the DJ booth and Veep‘s Anna Chlumsky looked on from the front row.
Stand-out pieces from the show included navy silk pajama separates with an abstract print and hot pink lining, boudoir-ish cream slip dresses, and one floor-sweeping black lace gown with an open back and a slit up to there. We recently spoke with the designer, and she described her spring line as “easy and comfortable and loose” but mostly just plain “fun.” Kudos to Polk for marrying fun and feminine, confirming our suspicions that this spring’s lacy indulgences will be a far cry from last year’s minimalism.
