Jeremy Scott is probably our favorite show of every season — it’s tied with Ralph Lauren for almost diametrically opposite reasons — because it’s just so darn fun. If the rest of fashion week is a glorified trade show, Scott’s runway presentations are like downtown art parties on ecstasy or, in the case of this season, ecstasy and LSD. We’ll explain.
Each one of Scott’s collections has a theme, and this year’s was something called Candy Flip — apparently a term for taking ecstasy and LSD at the same time, which makes sense because this show felt like being transported to an early ’90s rave, complete with fuzzy platforms, multicolored pigtails, and midriff-baring sweaters. And this rave featured androgynous model du jour Andrej Pejic in metallic silver pants and a bubblegum pink sweater that criss-crossed across his torso. (See slide two.)
And just to set the scene, Kanye West was there, sitting next to Vanessa Hudgens, whose publicist is, honestly, the kind of jerk who tells you he’s “never heard of” your publication before snidely refusing to let her answer any questions. No offense to Hudgens, who seems perfectly sweet, but what other reason could she possibly have for sitting front row at Jeremy Scott if not to garner press? ANYWAY. People’s Revolution head honcho Kelly Cutrone was running around making it all happen. And most delightfully, each seat came with a pill-patterned Longchamp bag and one of the three Swatch watches Scott designed as part of his collaboration.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
