While other designers became increasingly obsessed with minimalism this season, Raf Simons joined the ranks of Miuccia Prada and explored his own brand of maximalism for his spring/summer 2011 collection for Jil Sander.
Simons juxtaposed voluminous skirts with tiny tees, billowy dresses with structured parkas. Bold floral prints and strong stripes were peppered throughout, but it was the lush color palate that made the collection such a delight. Jades, tangerines, pinks, corals, blues and violets were all rich elements of a coherent whole.
A study in maximalism done right, this collection felt instantly wearable and playfully chic.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
