There is rarely a time when we’re not loving the latest and greatest from Lela Rose, and her spring/summer 2011 collection is no exception. The Texas native’s newest lineup has all the elements of the classic Lela Rose aesthetic, with a few surprises mixed in.
This season, gorgeous gowns mingle with playful shorts while outdoorsy jackets complement ladylike skirts and tops. There is no shortage of pretty dresses, and the designer was sure to include the hushed colors du jour into her motif. What is not so expected — and actually quite refreshing for a typically girly uptown designer — are a bold pair of (very downtown) black and white striped pants and fabrics that show just enough skin to perhaps be described as “risqué.”
Though the overall collection was a little safe, delicious summer colors splashed throughout an otherwise tranquil palate kept the element of surprise at the forefront of the collection, while vibrant prints ensured a sense of playfulness and energy.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
