Kate Moss Closes Louis Vuitton Once More, This Time On A Carousel

We’re New Yorkers through and through, but sometimes Paris shows us up. Big time. Yesterday Karl Lagerfeld took us under the sea with Chanel, and today Marc Jacobs incorporated a working carousel into his Louis Vuitton show.

Like Lagerfeld, Jacobs is no stranger to crazy awesome runway concepts— remember the elevators from LV’s fall show? We would really like Lincoln Center to get in on this stuff! Probably won’t happen, but we can dream? Anyway, Jacobs showed what some believe is his last collection for the French house this morning.

A curtain covered the carousel until right before the show began, when it was revealed that a) a carousel was in the middle of the room, b) it worked, and c) models were perched on the horses. The models then took turns getting off the horses and strutting around the catwalk, with Kate Moss once again closing the show.

The clothes were pastel and springy, straddling ’50s housewife and ’60s mod vibes, though they were all but dwarfed by the theatrics of the show itself. Not surprisingly, accessories were a focus of the collection, with models carrying an assortment of bags — a yellow croc satchel, a metallic cage tote, a monogramed baguette — down the runway. If this was indeed Jacobs’s LV sendoff, it was certainly a memorable one.
