There is a distinct and important difference between “pretty” and “cool”. As a rule, things that are pretty are rarely cool and vice versa. And that’s okay! Case in point: these Maison Martin Margiela split toe Tabi flats. Pretty? Hell no. Cool? Yup.
Versions of these iconic camel-toed shoes have been around for years. They first walked down the Margiela runway back in 2007, and we’ve seen them reincarnated as flats, boots, slingbacks, pumps, and more since. They’re fun! And quirky! And artful! And, yes, cool! Haters gonna hate and all that, but it just means they don’t get it.
We want them. (Relatedly, this particular pair is on sale right now!)
