Matthew Williamson‘s fun, flirty attire is a red carpet staple — women like Whitney Port, Blake Lively and Jessica Simpson can’t seem to get enough of the stuff, and with good reason. When it comes to making very hip, beaded cocktail dresses, or short sweet things in flattering, form-fitting prints, there’s no one better than Williamson.
But you can be good at something and not be in love with it, and Williamson clearly wanted to distance himself from the party-girl image his clothing tends to evoke. His clothes for spring 2011 were still very fun, very young and — with a few exceptions — very short. But they were somehow more serious than previous collections. Williamson is dressing the same girl, but this season, she wants to put on her (shiny blue) big girl pants and grow up. And the big girls in the audience — like Sienna and Savannah Miller of Twenty8Twelve and TV personality Cat Deeley — didn’t seem to mind the change at all.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
