NYFW: Samurai Gamer Girls Take Over at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Do you even game?

Do you even game?

New York might be the world’s official fashion capital, but yesterday it was London ladies Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley bringing the freshness our fair city. Having recently been promoted by to the helm of Marc Jacobs‘ androgynous little sister, they switched out the boys for an injection of hypermodern girl power.

Hillier and Bartley’s gang of anime gamer babes stomped the runway to the Alice in Wonderland theme song, wearing moon boots, logo prints, tight braids, and ninja handkerchiefs. Girls might rule the world, but they also play Call of Duty by night and can do a mean karate chop. One of those belted grey boiler suits would be perfect for doing all of the above, but for those who prefer to fly undercover, there were plenty of knife pleats, pencil skirts, and turtleneck sweaters.

Bartley, who was brought on to “reestablish the line as a real fashion collection,” told Racked, “I started with Power Rangers… I wanted to get across this youthful but strong attitude. [She’s] a girl with character and independence from other girls.”

Sorry/not sorry, boys.
