We love fashion, but we know not everybody has the time to scroll through every look in a runway show. Consider this your Cliff Notes to New York Fashion Week.
Peter Som has been showing a mix bold patterns and bright color for the last three seasons, so it’s comes as no surprise that now the practice is experiencing a moment, Som still does it best. His collection for Spring Summer 2011 is a very girly, very short and very colorful answer to the muted minimalism we’ve seen from Richard Chai, Rachel Comey and BCBG.
With Som, where there was wasn’t energetic pattern, there was sumptuous fabric (tulle and what looks to us like tweed) and intricate detail — and where there wasn’t great detail, as with the two pairs of trousers in the collection, there was impeccable tailoring. What Som is trying to tell us is that he can do it all, but he prefers to do exactly as he likes. And so long as he continues to produce clothing as beautiful as this, we have no problem with that.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
