Almost every model who walked in designer Tracy Reese‘s fall runway show on Sunday wore a pair of sunglasses or a long-billed cap. And why? Ostensibly, to shield their eyes from the pleasantly garish amount of bright colors they were wearing — or maybe just to block all the hate from the wide-eyed fans in the front row.
So far, Reese’s collection has been the most fun thing we’ve watched all Fashion Week. The colors were vibrant and bright, the models seemed to have a lot of energy, and the vibe during the show was, in general, super upbeat. We’re sure the music had something to do with it (think Grouplove mixed in with Azealia Banks and you’ll get the sound), and so did the diverse casting, but if the clothes hadn’t been so fun, it all would’ve fallen flat. Instead, a peppy highlighter yellow trench coat with a fur collar and several shiny jewel-tone tops injected a syringe full of pure adrenaline into a week suffering from a serious case of dropsy.
Our only complaint — if you can call it that — is that the show at times looked like it had forgotten it was a fall presentation, and not a spring one. But for every short skirt or sleeveless dress, there were also plenty of jackets and overcoats (one particularly good one was orange wool toggle affair with furry epaulets) to reign it all back in and defend wearers against the cold. That is, if the bright and optimistic color palette wasn’t doing enough of that already.
Take a look at the fun, bright collection below.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
