Prabal Gurung Goes From Hell To Heaven For Exquisite Fall Collection
From darkness to light, from hell to heaven, Prabal Gurung once again hit a runway homerun.
Yesterday’s show was packed to the brim with industry insiders — editors, creative directors, stylists, models. At Gurung’s shows, the front row stars are the likes of Anna Wintour and Bill Cunningham, not starlets. (Though Zoe Saldana did make an appearance in a look from Gurung’s knockout spring collection.) He is a fashion person’s designer. He takes risks. He makes beautiful and interesting things.
Dark-haired models opened the fall show in tailored and textured black, while light-haired ones closed in angelic white and gold. Gurung’s signature digital prints made a return, this time in blue, which matched the models’ bold eyeshadow. Last season the color of both the clothes and lips were purple.) We loved the rainbow iridescent panels, the sheer cutouts, the exquisite beadwork, the liberal use of feathers. Gurung remained true to his aesthetic, deftly evolving his spring offerings into fall.
