Rebecca Minkoff Gets NSFW Surprise At Fashion Week Show

And by NSFW, we also mean Not Suitable for Fashion Week. At Rebecca Minkoff‘s show yesterday, the designer tried, for the most part successfully, to make positive use of all of the social media buzz that was occurring in the audience. (A phenomenon that other designers, like Kenneth Cole, have exploited as well.) She invited attendees to tag their tweets “RMFall” with the promise that they’d appear on a large LED screen above the runway.

Naturally, someone didn’t miss an opportunity to tweet a pornographic picture of what WWD calls “a naked, smiling man caressing a topless woman.” Which then appeared onscreen when all the tweets were aggregated during the final walk, while viewers alternated between gasps and giggles.

Well, lesson learned. For every hundred die-hard show-goers in the crowd, there’s one huge weirdo. It’s best not to give him digital access to your runway backdrop.
