FLASH FASHION: Rebecca Taylor’s Chic, Simple, 70s Style

Rebecca Taylor‘s runway presentation may have been one of the hardest shows to get into this week — even some people who were invited to the show (like us here at Styleite) didn’t make it through the long line of people waiting to get in, instead having to watch the live stream of the show in the lobby at Lincoln Center.

But even watching it on a screen, we could see that Taylor’s collection was a little bit of a departure for the designer. Sure, she made all of the moves she normally makes in spring — there were the bright pops of color, the small-scale prints, the mix of patterns. But in a way, this collection is cleaner and simpler than the clean, simple clothes what we’ve seen from her in the past. The designer told WWD she was inspired by “Jerry Hall circa 1970-fabulous!” That was back when chic meant easy to wear, no frills and no nonsense — and this collection is all of those things at once.
