Ronnie Shills His Cocktail Creations At Sammi’s Runway Debut

We had no idea what to expect when we walked into the Metropolitan Pavilion South this afternoon for  the debut of Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola‘s activewear collection for SXE Fitness. Would the rest of the Jersey Shore cast be in attendance? Would MTV film the show for an episode? Was there going to be a fight? So many questions!

First, the check-in line was a mess. The PR girls were confused about seats, and a photographer in front of us looked like he was about to get violent over the wait. Once we got inside, we were offered a Think Thin granola bar, Monster energy drink, and a cup of white wine — yes, a classy plastic cup. More sponsors dotted the venue, like Monster Headphones, Ubisoft‘s Just Dance, Inglot, and Stolichnaya Vodka. The scene resembled nothing so much as a food court in a mall where you meander around and swipe samples from every vendor possible in the shortest amount of time. And then we remembered where we were.

The front row included Sammi’s boyfriend Ronald “Ronnie” Ortiz-Magro, Jr. and Adrienne Bailon. Ronnie looked like his regular self in a graphic white tee and denim, while Bailon wore actual clothes leather pants, a see-through lace top, and a black bra. There’d be no wardrobe malfunction today, unless you wanted to count her very visible bra.

The show began with a performance from Tylernstevie, and the duo sang/rapped a remix of Carley Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe”. Sure. Once that was over, models sauntered out in Sammi’s fitness gear. They were decked out in colorful sports bras, tanks, sweatpants, track jackets, and sneakers. Some of the girls also sported headphones, courtesy of the audio sponsor. There were faux belts with contrasting loops, and a double heart logo on butt cheeks. As girls kept walking out, we kept wondering how many iterations of sports bras and sweats one could possibly design. A lot, apparently.

After the show, we made a beeline for Ronnie, who was surprisingly (Editor’s note: this is not at all surprising.) sans PR.

“I think the show was amazing,” he told us. “This is something that Sam’s always wanted to do — fashion. And she’s a great artist herself, so the fact that she has an opportunity like this, she’s really excited about it. I feel like it’s a female version of Under Armor. Like men have Under Armor, and this is the girl’s version of it. It’s gonna be really new. She also has a new perfume coming out, and a men’s cologne.”

While we pegged Ron Ron as a no-cologne type of guy, he laughed when we asked if he’d wear Sammie’s new cologne: “I’ll buy it!”

He also seemed totally cool with the announcement that the Jersey Shore‘s upcoming sixth season would be its last. “Every season, we went into it like it was the final season. So it’s not really a surprise or shock to me that it’s coming sooner or later. This show has opened so many doors for us, as you can see. It’s the end of the Jersey Shore, but it’s not the end of us.”

Wait, what does he mean by that? “I don’t have any fashion lines coming out, but I do have Smush Cocktail.” Err…come again?

“It’s like a Skinny Margarita version with four flavors, and then I’ll have Ron Ron Juice hitting stores as well. It should be in stores in a month or two. I also have a version where you throw it in the freezer, and it freezes over in a pouch. I have another version where if you want to throw it in a blender, you throw it in a blender. It’s just going to be a mixer, kind of like a — I don’t even know how to say it. I don’t know, I just drink vodka usually! But it’s like normal cranberry juice. The good thing about the mixer is that it’s non-alcoholic.  So you can add it yourself — vodka, tequila, rum, or all five if you want! It depends on how you want to get that night. But the alcoholic version isn’t strong.”

Also, Ronnie calls Snooki’s baby boy a “Snookball.” And now you know.
