You Can D.I.Y. Spring’s Hottest Handbags This Weekend
Three weeks ago we noted that the New York runways were full of DIY accessory inspiration, and it appears even the glitzier cities are hotbeds of improvisational finesse.
In London Anya Hindmarch sent her Spring 2014 handbags soaring over her spectators’ heads in a spate of her out-of-this-world humor. The one that particularly caught our eye was a tongue-in-cheek take on the bag that normally contains our takeout beef and broccoli, rendered in plush textural python.
And if you prefer your arm candy straight-up derelicte, look to yesterday’s Lanvin show. Alber Elbaz sent his sparkle-clad models down the runway holding high-gloss trash bags, because Alber Elbaz can. And because they were a delightfully playful dig at his opulent clothes.
If you’re light walleted and hungry eyed, follow these easy steps to DIY two of Spring 2014′s hottest handbags:
1. Locate a plastic bag
2. Grasp it in your hand
3. Say this at every opportunity: “It’s called fashion – look it up.”
Recycling has never been more chic:
