FLASH FASHION: Topshop Unique Goes Back In Time

It’s official: The 70s trend seen during New York Fashion Week has crossed the pond and landed at London Fashion Week. Topshop Unique‘s runway presentation spring 2011 featured afros, bell bottoms, fringe and platform heels.

But the clothes were far from your basic 70s staples — done in glorious prints witn sequins or straightforward pale pink silk and lace, the looks were unexpected without being experimental and fashion forward without being unwearable. We have reservations about clear platform, but the uppers, done in suede with a healthy amount of fringe, are amazing in and of themselves.

The show drew in celebs from new shop owner Lily Allen, who wore a graphic gray-and-white striped Louis Vuitton coat, to Olivia Palermo (who’s a really big deal in London) and model Amber Rose. Photographic evidence suggests that they enjoyed the show, and really, why wouldn’t they?
