Though Donatella Versace‘s designs often exude an in-your-face sexuality, her spring/summer 2011 collection for Versace showed a restrained sensuality, while still maintaining a sense of sexy playfulness. The Mediterranean influence was palpable (and quite appropriate), as Versace infused her collection with whites, bright reds and turquoises, as well as a Greek key motif that popped up throughout the show.
Versace played with cutouts, both on her dresses and on the killer patent leather sandals that adorned the models’ feet. More than anything, the collection felt refreshingly cohesive — all of the pieces made sense in the context of each other. One element that tied things together nicely was a collage print that incorporated the collection’s color palate (black, white, red, turquoise) and the Greek key. It was neither contrived nor superfluous. It just made sense.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
