Comme des Garçons Collaborates With Hermès On Two Scarf Collections

We’ve always dreamed of owning a classic Carré scarf from Hermès, and news that the brand is collaborating with Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo only makes us more determined.

Kawakubo has designed two limited-edition collections of square scarves called Comme des Carrés due out in February. The “Noir et Blanc” line features five scarves in black and white designs which will be sold for around $493 at Comme des Garçons stores in New York, Paris, and at the Aoyama location in Tokyo. “Couleur” includes six colorful styles, and will be priced between $492 and $2,076 at London and Tokyo’s Dover Street Market stores. We should note that the style above is courtesy of our creative Photoshopping and, sadly, not a real one being offered.

Kawakubo herself explains:

“I have always had an immense respect for Hermès’ tradition and artisanal know-how. During this joint project, rather than being guided by the idea of the scarf as it is worn, I became interested instead in the beautiful ‘artworks’ that the designs on Hermès carrés represent, and I sought to change them by adding elements. By combining them with abstract images, we have transformed the carré and created a unique object.”

Hey Santa, we’ve been pretty good this year. Hint hint.
