When we think Costco, we think fluorescently-lit warehouses and bulk toilet paper runs. We certainly don’t think wedding gowns. That being said, you can pretty much buy anything (including caskets) at Costco, so we shouldn’t be surprised that the wholesale megachain is getting into the bridal business.
Wedding dress designer Kirstie Kelly (who we’ve never heard of, but is described as a celebrity favorite?) designed six dresses for Costco, which will be sold for 40% off the retail price. Ranging from $699-$1399, the gowns come in sizes 2-24 and are made of organza, satin and taffeta.
Dying to get your hands on one? The dresses are only being sold as part of a traveling trunk show for now, though it’s expected they will eventually be available in Costcos nationwide. While we think Vera Wang’s gowns for David’s Bridal are way prettier (and cost the same as those in the Kirstie Kelly Signature collection), the Costco dresses do have an advantage: you can take them home on the day of purchase.
This all begs the question: would you buy a wedding dress at Costco? Check out the video (and gowns!) below, and tell us what you think.
