Ebay Launches New Fashion Section

Earlier today, eBay launched their newly created Fashion micro-site, an improved way for eBay fashionistas to shop and scour the eBay marketplace for clothing, shoes and accessories.

According to an eBay Fashion press release:

eBay Fashion has a stylish new look and advanced features making it easy for savvy shoppers to explore and browse the incredible selection of new, repurposed and vintage items available on eBay.

To begin with, they’ve added a Fashion tab to the top right of the eBay navigation bar, making it easier to go directly to the fashion site — no matter what page you are on.

There’s also been a redesign of what the fashion section looks like. It’s sleeker and more visually oriented than before — and rather than appearing like a large used clothing site, the eBay fashion page now looks a lot more like a department store’s website, with items clearly laid out and organized appropriately. The new gallery view option allows you to view the items you like in a slideshow with larger photos, rather than in separate individual tabs.

Most helpful to shoppers will be the category boutiques, which will enable shoppers to browse by brand, style, and size, among other item characteristics. Click on a product and instantly get connected to products that are like the one you are viewing.

eBay will also be collaborating with stylist Annabel Tollman to put together her favorite items sold on the Fashion page.

So will eBay’s new Fashion Page catapult the site into a more serious shopping destination? Wherever there are used products, you’re always running the risk of fakes. A shiny new section does not solve this issue entirely, but it definitely makes it easier to spot the good stuff and ignore the bad. Streamlining the shopping experience on a site as large as eBay is essential, especially when looking for luxury goods. We’ve already started experimenting and have found a great deal on a pair of Yves Saint Laurent Ankle Boots in a size 8 in only seconds.
