PHOTOS: A First Look At Giambattista Valli’s Macy’s Collection

OK, OK, we’ll admit it. We weren’t all that sure that we were going to fall in love with Giambattista Valli‘s collaboration with Macy’s Impulse. But we saw the clothes the Italian designer made for the American chain last night, and some of them are absolutely fabulous.

And that’s because Valli gave us Valli, not some watered down version of himself that’s more palatable to an American consumer who might not even know who he is. There’s a fuschia dress in this collection that looks almost exactly like on of the first things you see on the designer’s website.

The collection features a lot of cocktail dresses, a lot of leopard, and a lot of red. But there’s also a lovely black tweed suit and skirts covered in material that has been rusched to within an inch of its existence. A red printed maxi dress was a delightful surprise, as was a black-and-leopard sheath dress decorated with a red band. We liked it. We really liked it.

But that’s just what we think. Take a look at the collection below and tell us if you’l be buying any of it.
