It’s a good thing we have zero qualms about venturing into the menswear department, because a capsule collection by Grimes isn’t really something we want to pass up — even if it is meant to be worn by dudes. The Montreal musician has collaborated with Saint Laurent Paris on a line of t-shirts inspired by YSL‘s iconic “Love” posters featuring her swirly, trippy drawings that look like precisely what we’d like to be wearing to her next show.
The 24-year-old, whose real name is Claire Boucher, tells Vibe that she and Hedi Slimane met while he was shooting her for the April 2012 issue of Dazed & Confused. “It was immediately awesome because he was just totally different from any photographer I’ve ever worked with,” she said. “He was really smart and intense and we got along really well.”
From there, Slimane asked her to lend her hand to a capsule collection for the house he has been transforming since he was appointed creative director in March of last year. But even though the designer is already developing a rep for a musician-heavy front row (think Jamie Hince, Daft Punk, and Sky Ferreira, to name a few), don’t expect to see Grimes around when he debuts his fall collection this week — she’s busy hanging out “deep in the Canadian mountains.”
Check out some of the tees below, and head over to Luisaviaroma to shop the line if you’ve got some spare change lying around (think $300+ per piece — it is Saint Laurent, after all):
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
