Hermès Sues Indie Label Over Printed Canvas Birkins

A few months ago we came across some super cute Thursday Friday totes that were printed with cheeky trompe l’oeil Birkins. We thought they were clever and winking and oh-so-affordable at $35 a pop. Hermès was none too pleased about the oft-backordered bags, and decided to sue Thursday Friday for copying their famed design.

Here’s the thing: these are not knockoff bags. These are not fakes masquerading as authentic Birkins. And it’s pretty hard to confuse screen-printed canvas totes with the world’s most coveted leather handbags. But Hermès thinks the company is “confusing, misleading, and deceiving the public.” We have to disagree with their claims, but judging by that other Hermès controversy, they mean business.

You can check out the court documents over at SheFinds. Do you think Hermès has a case?
